Usb CD device cannot find cd in DFS

I have a rather annoying problem:

I have an external usb DVD recorder that im using to boot debian from scratch CD.
When i try to boot a kernel, it works fine and shows the normal output from kernel until the last
step when it cant find the CD and does a loop over this like: "Scanning for Dfs-CD" "Resting devices for 10 seconds" etc. Ive tried to boot a kernel with a parameter that looks like this:

dfscd=/dev/scdX X=0,1,2 etc

It should be able to find the usb device on 1 of the /dev/scd devices

Is it the scsi device modules who controls the usb mass storage devices?

Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks

Problem solved

I solved the problem....

Turns out that the installer figured the usbdevice for a scsi bus device instead of hiddevice.

Did a 'cat /proc/devices'...nothing there.

Did a 'cat /proc/bus/usb'...nothing there since installer didnt recognize the burner and i couldnt mount usbdevfs

Did a 'cat /proc/scsi/scsi' and it was on bus0-5....changes randomly.

After the installation the usbrecorder had the correct device name "scd0".
