USB boot idea

Well, I've been experimenting with different USB booting things, and although my laptop allows USB booting, my desktop BIOS does not, so I got to thinking of ways I could get around that, so I was thinking-

What if you made a CD or floppy (preferably a cd, so I can have a small one that will fit into my wallet) that booted, but it was a very small program that merely referred to the USB to boot, thus working its way around the BIOS?

Has that been done? is it possible? Is something similar possible?

That has been done and is a part of most of the USB live distors alredy. Checkout feather linux and look for the usb boot floppy.

Would the FeatherLinux boot floppy image work if I wanted to boot other distros? Specifically, at least for now, Im trying to boot backtrack, which has worked on a laptop whose BIOS allows USB.

Sorry for the late reply. Im not sure I think you can as the floppy doesent contain the kernel image and if it does probably just an initrd image anyway and you can create and replace that eazy enough. Try it out and see if it works with that distro if so then YAY if not then ill be happy to help in any way I can.
