Please do not use words like "Urgent" in thread titles, it may be a priority for you, but please understand that it is not for us.... thanks.

Nope, nothing is urgent, and many people tend to ignore those who use 'urgent' as you feel you are some way more important than the others here, and that you should be helped first, which isnt the case, as we the browsers decide, not you the poster. That's just the way the internet works.

Do you have a disk to back up file to somewhere? What do you have to back it up?

Do you mean you have the random problem with
Quote:
Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'
?
I dont know of anyone who's managed to fix this. I had it too, and didnt make much progress, so I simply formatted and reinstalled that linux install.

Okay, I don't know if your problem is with KDE or X itself. So, what I want you to do is to download the icewm at http://www.icewm.org put it on a floppy and install it on your computer. Download the source package, not rpm.

Hopefully it will work and you have a place online to back up your stuff.

BTW, does this PC have a windows partition?

Windows cant read linux partitions, especially the decent new ones like Ext3 or ReiserFS.

If you want to save those files, put the HD back and try to install icewm.
