Uppercase filenames showing in lowercase

Hi there,

I got this removable hard disk which I use for my back ups, and when I get on this hard drive through the shell command line 'cd /media/backupdrive' whole uppercase file or directory names are displayed in lowercase. If I try to create a new file in upper case, it just keep creating it a lower case. If the first letter is Upper case it works fine or if at least the last letter is in lower case then it is OK too. The hard drive is formatted in fat32, but I got a partition also formatted in fat32 which display file names correctly. It is very frustrating because when I syncronise my directories it keep deleting everything to replace it all again, that's because 'rsync' the syncronising command sees the file 'UTS' different from 'uts'.
Well if you've got any idea I'll be very grateful for your help. btw I run Fedora Core 3.

Thank you

Yes--FAT32 and Windows are not case-sensitive. If I create a folder on my FAT32 drive (using Linux) it is always LC. I assume that is because **something** knows that UC and LC are the same thing and just makes everything LC. I don't understand why.
