Updating Lilo Error Message

I want to update my lilo version so because I wanted to change the boot screen to something less barbarian than the redish/yellowish look. I downloaded Lilo 22.5.8. I did "make install" and I received the following error:

cc -c -O2 -Wall -g -DLILO=0x16c2d41b `( if [ -r $ROOT/etc/lilo.defines ]; then cat $ROOT/etc/lilo.defines; else echo -DBDATA -DDSECS=3 -DEVMS -DIGNORECASE -DLVM -DONE_SHOT -DPASS160 -DREISERFS -DREWRITE_TABLE -DSOLO_CHAIN -DVERSION -DVIRTUAL; fi ) | sed 's/-D/-DLCF_/g'` geometry.c geometry.c: In function `lvm_bmap': geometry.c:438: waarde met subscript is noch een array, noch een pointer geometry.c:450: waarde met subscript is noch een array, noch een pointer make: *** [geometry.o] Fout 1

Please help,thx in advance

you do not need to upgrade lilo for this, just read the manpages for details on chaning the splash screen. and if you do need to upgrade it, just use an existing rpm or simialr archive.
