unhide in fstab doesn't work

I have come across a CD ROM that has hidden files that I want to access from within Linux. I added the unhide option to my CD ROM entry in /etc/fstab and inserted the CD. It mounted, but the hidden files are still not displayed. Here is the line from /etc/fstab:

/mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount dev=/dev/hdc,fs=iso9660,ro,--,iocharset=iso8859 -1,user,unhide 0 0

All the symlinks should be fine as the device does get mounted, it just ignores unhide. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There was a big discussion about that. I don't know what the end result is, but I assume it hasn't been changed in the kernel you are using yet.

Basically you need to be root to change the unhide option. You could try something like this as root:

mount -o remount,unhide /mnt/cdrom

Mik, thank you for your response.

I tried:

mnt -o remount,unhide /mnt/cdrom

as Mik has suggested as well as unmounting /mnt/cdrom and remounting it using unhide (as root). Neither of these approaches seems to display the hidden files.
