UNetbootin not executing ...

I had this downloaded in Slackware used it to burn Void to a USB Stick. now that I am trying to use it again, I swear my brain must be on stupid or something -- it's not UNetbootin by no means, no sir ree

it is chmod +x UNetbootin-linx-xxx I downloaded it again one says .bin at the end the other I alrady had didn't.. nevertheless when I tried starting off the command line it just creats a pid then nothing. I've tried it in su mode su - mode sudo mode and just plain ole user mode. it does not fire up, I could have sweared I got it to work before even have p7zip installed on Slackware to prove it to me that I must have use it to get that Old copy of Void on my other USB, now wanting to burn antother one that is build with XFCE4 on this one .. UNetbootin is a no fly -- crash and burn more then a USB burn ---

any help would be nice, and dd does not work becuse it is a live iso -- already tried that -- JIC -- didn't work.. FYI

I'm totally confused as to the question.

Unetbootin is an OK tool for limited uses. There may be better ways to create what you wish.

that is the point of this whole question, so now the both of us are confused about UNetbootin.

let me reprase the question and put it like this, HOW DO YOU GET IT TO WORK? what is your step by step procedure that you go through to get it to gui up the window so you can use it?

because it is not working for me per the instructions on UNetbootin Webpage

Did you build this program?

Why are saying it can't when web pages say it can be installed that way? Almost every modern distro today is a hybrid iso.

You could catch grub and search for your linux with it.

I could catch the next bus to the bar too lol

Linux is becomming too saturated. too many hands in the cookie dough mixing up the batter. one should just be able to just download that precompiled one they have, then slap a chmod +x on it, then run it from the command line bam! done deal --

but noooo not any more

You do realize that the process to copying an ISO to a disc, USB, or SD card are all the same in Linux, OS/X and very similar in Windows?

This is not a Linux issue. This is a user error issue. You are not sharing what commands you are running. You are not sharing the errors you are receiving. Finally, you are complaining about the fact that you have not provided enough information.

If you want someone to help you, you need to comply with basic etiquette standards. No one can help you if you just say:

"Unetbootin not executing..." and "HOW DO YOU GET IT TO WORK?"

it is someones Issues not mine though.. it is not a user error issue. that's bunk
I did the download the already compiled one chmod +x to it, installed p7zip like it said, went to the command line su .. ./unetbootin-xxx
then nothing a great big fat nothing, when it should have fired up like you said ,, Linux is Linux -- Unetbootin linux version, it still did not work.
I did too, let me go get them off the first post
Quote:
excerpt:
it is chmod +x UNetbootin-linx-xxx
have p7zip installed
I've tried it in su mode su - mode sudo mode and just plain ole user mode.
that is the short version. Of course I used the command line #./unetbootin-xxx $sudo ./unetbootin-xxx $./unetbootin-xxx
it still did not work. no errors where given it did nothing .. just like as if your just pressed your enter key without anything on the command line .. NOTHING happens .. that is what I got NOTHING not a thing . if you'd read it slower you may have noticed I gave all of the information within what you said I needed to.

downloaded unetbootin
chmod +x
ran it off the command line using su su- and sudo and plain ole user and it didn't work period. I even have p7zip installed as per unetbootin instructions.

what more information could I give? it is all in there, even in my little rant I still added all of the information one needs to see I did all of the steps, and no errors where given, hench the that's why you nor anyone didn't see a code block with errors in it.

someone in here lead me to an older version of a slack package 13.xx

Some of these links are still valid. http://distrowatch.com/index.php?distribution=slackware

Many mirrors around the world may still have various versions.

http://mirrors.slackware.com/mirrorlist/

Torrents still have many versions out there.

Hey guys , If I remember correctly Unetbootin needs to be run as root, so chmod +x unetbootin.xxx.xx is moot.
Try sudo ./unetbootin.xxxx.xx , or su ./unetbootin.xxxx.xx from a console window. That's the way I've had to run it on Linux
