Unable to print multibyte characters like japanese using lp command -RHEL4.4

I have a RHEL4.4 system.
On this when I try to print the japanese text files using lp command, the garbage is printed.
I have HP-laserjet 4250n series printers.

Upon searching on various sites, I found a way to do it after converting it to Postscript using "enscript -p" and then print it using "a2ps" command.

However I am not able to convert the file containing japanese text to postscript fully and I get error from enscript command "14 non-printable characters"

Can anyone tell me how do I convert japanese text to postscript?

Or is there any other way to print japanese ?
