Unhappy RedHat 7.1 problems

Help!

I installed RH 7.1 and now I can't:

-access my cdrom ("not a valid block device.")
-eth0 won't come online (3c509b card)
-vfat not a supported fs by kernel ("although it is listed in /etc/filesystems")

is this due to the new kernel? How can I fix this? Please help!

Cheers

Arrow

actually I have found some more info on the NIC issue.

I ran modprobe 3c59x and got:

Can't find dependency or file /lib/modules/2.2.xxx/modules.dep

this file actually exists in /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/modules.dep

How can I fix this reference?

Thx

to fix the vfat bit you need to recompile your kernel but make sure that in the 'filesystems' menu you choose vfat and fat and dos

that should fix that.

when you got the new kernel, did you also get the other, upgraded utilities? they are noted in the changelog and it also tells you how to check versions of these progs so you don't download something that you don't need.

also, did you remember to type after "make zImage" (or bzImage) "make modules" and then "make modules_install" ?

actually, I performed a new install of rh7.1 over rh7.0 and for some reason it retained some old settings, even tho I told it to format the partition. I reinstalled, after removing all partitions and repartitioning, and now everything works fine.

I appreciate your help. I really like the new KDE

Cheers!
