udp tcp command line tool for shell script programing


hello
I am looking for a powerful command line tool to send and receive data via socket I mean define IP , port and data other options for command to send and receive data from sender.(like a high level socket programming)

Try Hping(packet snooping tool) its really very good. But only CUI is available.

do you know any other suggestion I do not have this package how can I install it please suggest a standard package that is common on most distribution without compilation or extra installation need I am using ubuntu 10.04.

No you have to compile this with the available source. Hping will be available in nmap.org.

Remember this is a snooping tool and you should use it for only study purpose.

netcat aka nc. It is part of most distros.
