Ubuntu 6.10 Dual boot screen

I am dual booting with xp as of about 10minutes ago and want to know if there is anyway to change the boring black screen in the background of the dual boot options and edit the layout of the text..?

also if anyone knows how to change the default around so it boots str8 into xp instead of linux (because i use that most frequently) please write it here for me

here is the website which made me curious of this http://ruslug.rutgers.edu/~mcgrof/grub-images/ it says you can have a splash image in grub??? but im just wondering if its possible and how to do it?

You can, but lilo is easier, I haven't got around to learning grub yet, but I can tell you how with lilo if you want. Or you could wait until someone who uses grub or knows how comes along. In fact, I just remembered, on www.kde-look.org in the bootsplash section there are a few grub splashes, maybe one comes with a readme or something explaining how to apply it.

i don't know about changing background image
but to make XP default
make a change in /boot/grub/menu.lst

there is a line starting with default
looks like

"default 0"

make it

"default 1" if ubuntu is 0th and XP is 1st
