TTY and System Terminal mail

I'm trying to send mail from both of these and can't. I'm using the mail command followed by root in order to send it back to source, but keep getting the message "Real domain name required for sender address" I have also tried using root@localhost.com and root@localhost.zone. I can receive mail from Evolution in both TTY and the Terminal, just can't send it. Is this a configuration error in the send feature?

Thanks for any help.

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

And now, instead of a hard to understand description just post
how you invoked mail (best do a copy & paste from the terminal). :}

Cheers,
Tink

Hi,

Ok. What I did was try to send an e-mail from the root terminal. Then I did the mail command to retrieve the message, since I knew it wouldn't send. Here's what it looks like...

Thanks.

No mail for root
[root@localhost ~]# mail root
