Trying to re-install lilo, but a problem
I've got a question.
I had Win98SE and Linux (Mandrake 2005) set up as a dual boot. All was well and good, and I had installed LILO as the bootloader.
However, because something in Windows had to try and digest itself, I found myself reinstalling Windows.
This of course overwrote the mbr.
I'm trying to use loadlin to start up Linux and just try to get LILO re-established, but with no luck.
I don't have CDs, by the way. I have the entire ISO images unpacked into D:\mand2005
So I put loadlin on a floppy, and use the following line in a .bat file to start things up:
a:\loadlin d:\mand2005\isolinux\alt0\vmlinuz initrd=d:\mand2005\isolinux\alt0\all.rdz ramdisk_size=128000 automatic=method:cdrom acpi=ht vga=788 splash=silent
Everything starting with the ramdisk_size part I copied from isolinux.cfg
The thing is, it starts loading up, then tells me that there isn't 4MB of RAM, and ends with "System halted"
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get around this? Really all I need to do is to reinstall LILO. If there's another way, I'm all ears. As things stand, though, I currently can't get to Linux, and don't have CDs.
