Tru64's AdvFS

Does anyone have an idea when it'll be ported to the Linux kernel ? I haven't found any info on this. Thanks.

I only just read that HP may make Tru64 Advanced File System code public.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/06..._source_gpl_2/

The question is whether it is any better than options that are already available. We already have a huge number of excellent choices for file system formats. Will another choice make any difference to anyone? I suppose it would be handy if anyone wanted to run Linux and Tru64 on the same machine sharing a disk. Otherwise why bother with it?

They did release it. http://advfs.sourceforge.net/

Even though ext3 is considerably more solid, AdvFS has some interesting features too: snapshotting, intelligent striping and mirroring, defrag, dynamic resizing, etc.

Back to my question, does anyone know any details/news ?
