Angry Trouble with sound

Hi everyone now I have troubles with sound in my Red hat 8.0. Before with my old kernel I can hear everything without troubles but since I upgrade my new Kernel 2.4.20-13.8 and now I can't hear anything, the volume is OK, when type in a terminal redhat-config-soundcard everything is OK, the sound card is detected but I can't hear the sound, what can I do to fix this error. Thanks a lot for your answers.

I upgraded to that kernel in rh 9 and they did not build my sound driver, you can build it yourself or downgrade your kernel, or recompile your kernel. they also got rid of the smbfs samba fils system.

gerardoj, you need to include support for your sound card when you compile your kernel.

did you compile the kernel yourself?

if not maybe you can load the driver as a module?, if you have module support for it in your kernel.

as root type:
Code:
modprobe drivername
alternatively you can edit the file manually and add support for you card; /etc/rc.d/rc.modules

uncomment the line which refers to your soundcard
