I just got in this morning, and it finished compiling. Now I'm doing the make install. I'll let you guys know if it's successful or not

Well I did the make install and it failed. Here is the section of the install.log that reports a fatal error:

Code:

So I look in my world.log and found an error for wacom:

make[7]: Entering directory `/root/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/input/wacom'

Do you know what caused my 'make World' compilation to fail (and as a result the 'make install' to fail also)?

No clue on that one.

Since you only have a few things installed, If it was me and I had the time, I would blow it all away and start with a fresh install of slackware.

install all in /slakware/a1 that say required
install /slakware/ap1 man+manpages vim and anything else you might need.
install all in /slakware/d1
install /slakware/k1 2.4.5.tgz
install /slakware/n1 things you'll need, ftp ssh, maybe lynx for a browser until you get x running.

And chose your boot kernel usally 2.4.5 ide or scsi

Maybe someone else knows what the error is , sry I dont.

Ok thanks for the help. By the way, I don't see "/slakware/k1 2.4.5.tgz". Where is it?

mount your cd
mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /cdrom
cd /cdrom/slakware/k1
ls
lnx245.tgz (sorry didnt get the name correct)

and it should be there.

I reinstalled slackware, and I've compiled and installed XFree86. I configured it by doing "XFree86 -configure" and now when I type "startx" I get an X-Windows display.

What is the next step?
