Tripple Boot

What experience have people had tripple booting
Windows, Linux and BSD

I want to know what you would install after Windows
BSD or Linux
and any other issues that I ( or anyone else )
might need to be aware of
Currently using Windows 98, Mandrake 10 and
going to install FreeBSD 5.2

Now please dont get into the "which is better" or
"why windows" debate
I'm not interested
I'm doing it simply because I can
and it familiarises my children
with different OS's
which should hopefully make them
a little more employable than the general herd

wow, that sounds like a fun project. i've never done anything like that but i do have experience dualbooting linux and bsd. here is what i would do:

first install windows, of course, cause it's the most stubborn about it being the only OS on the system.

then install bsd. i've tried installing linux, then freebsd, but the freebsd partition utility didn't recognize all the free space i left for it in the linux install. so first go with bsd.

install linux and use its bootloader (i believe LILO is the default for mandrake?). configure LILO to recognize all the OS's and that should be it.

Yeah multibooting is fun.

You have to install windows first because it installs the WINNT loader in the MBR.

Dont have much experience with BSD but I think you should install it next,

since you're using mandrake, which will install, I forgot if it was lilo or grub because I also have mandrake 10 in my system, but according to seether its LILO.

Personally I'd suggest using GRUB, coz its kinda easier to configure, and if you have an error, you can esily correct this at boot time.

My system currently has 2 Slackware installs (one for my livecd project) LFS, Debian, Mandrake (which I might erase soon, maybe I should try FreeBSD or OpenBSD) and WinXP.

Multibooting is really fun
