Trinity Rescue Kit Seems to live up to its promise.

I recently used Trinity Rescue Kit to clean up my girlfriend's daughter's Sony VAIO XP box. Trinity Rescue Kit is a Linux live CD designed specifically for cleaning up Windows messes.

I was impressed.

I wrote it up at Geekazine, where I post from time to time. I'm not going to tell the story again, but anyone who is interested can read the post.

Thanks for the right up. I'm always looking at ways to fix windows short of the tried and true method of reinstalling. My question is simple: How well did the infected computer perform after the clean up was done? Did you do any comparison between the tools used first under windows and then after using TRK?

I did not benchmark it, but it was definitely faster to both my and the owner's naked eyes.

If I do this again, I'll do some benchmarking first and report back.

Thanks for giving me that idea.

That would be great, and again thanks for the write up. Naked eye results are useful as well. It's really how 80% of the world judges their computer anyway.
