Trash doesn't display in Nautilus

Trash shows as empty in Nautilus - but if I view it with Thunar, the files are there!

When it started, older files displayed, but when I deleted more files, they didn't show up there. I wasn't getting more free space, so I knew suspected they weren't completely gone. It took me ages to find the files by opening trash via Thunar, so I could delete them and free up space.

I had a similar problem when i was using Xubuntu 7.04 last year - I assume it was Thunar that had the problem that time.

I have a workaround but I thought this may be useful info for others.

Thunar should be keeping the trash in ~/.local/share/Trash/, I'm not sure that Nautilus stores it in the same place.

Ah, thanks! I have 2 trash bins, when I use the 2 file managers.

It's .trash in the user's home directory, in Nautilus.

These would be better to be standardized, I think. The Nautilus approach is nice and intuitive.
