Totem Movie Player problem (Ubuntu)

I'm trying out Ubuntu Linux right now. I didn't think id like using gnome exclusively, but in just a day ive come to like it better than KDE, which Ive always used.

Anyways, the distro comes with totem movie player and gstreamer. I'm not really familiar with how these things work, but from what I understand, totem uses either xine or gstreamer libraries to run videos. Well, totem doesnt run videos. No matter what type of file I open, it tells me that it cannot open the file, for "reason unknown". Anybody have a solution?

You'll probably need to install the libmpeg libraries, and for DVD's you will definitely need to install libdvdread and (for CSS encrypted DVD's) libdvdcss.

Hope this helps.
