Tomtom GPS and blackberry users - a question for you

I have been using Linux for few years now and wanted to completely ditch Windoze as it is taking up space on my laptop. However two things I have not been able to resolve so far and that is delaying my decision.

a) I use a Tom Tom GPS Go 730 which needs updating on a regular basis and the software that comes with it cannot run in Linux. I have read about people trying it out in wine with no luck as the tomtom would have to be detected through the USB port which is a problem in wine. Can someone confirm this is so? If you are using a tomtom and exclusively use Linux how do you manage?

b) I have the similar situation as tomtom with blackberry. I am not aware of any software which could do the job in Linux. Am I missing something?

Only if I could solve these issues, I would stop using windows and recover the space for a better cause.

Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

I use Linux exclusively, and yet I still maintain a dualboot setup for just this sort of thing...
It might be a nice idea from an ideological perspective to completely hose Windows, but unfortunately it's just not practical. Rather than giving yourself headaches, just do the dual-boot thing.

I guess I have to stick with it for the time being
