Hello everyone,
I work with
sidescan sonar data, whose final product is invariably a mosaiced image of the seabed stored as a tiff (a geotiff so it's referenced to a particular coordinate system). Anyway, part of my job is to classify the seabed based on the intensity of the returned image (which basically equates to how "bright" the a part of the image is). It would help me enormously if this could be automated to a certain extent, and just identifying regions where the bed is consistently a particular colour would speed the interpretation process up immensely.
Therefore, I would like to know if anyone knows how to turn a geotiff into a series of x, y and z values (x and y being coordinates, and y being the intensity of the pixel [0-255?]), so that I can write a little fortran program to identify regions where the seabed is within a particular set of values.
Any thoughts would be most welcome
