Things to do with a USB drive? (Ubuntu)

Apart from the obvious purpose of data storage, I used to have other nonsense on my 8GB usb drive like Predator, which acts like a 'key' to unlock your PC when it has Windows. The snag is, it only works for Windows, and I've had trouble installing Cuttlefish. Are there any other interesting applications to put on a usb stick which work on Ubuntu?

The flash drive that I always carry with me has 2 partitions: a bootable ext2 Lunubtu partition (for if I need to boot a computer with a sane operating system) and a fat32 partition for Windows/Linux shared storage.

I've always wanted to do the same with having Mint on the usb and having the rest of the memory for general use, but do I have to partition after putting Mint on the usb, or before?

I've had a USB stick with Parted Magic on it for a long time, it's just really handy...
