There is no ANY reaction, when I plug any USB device.
HI, All.
I have SuSE 9.1 with 2.6.4-52 kernel. And there is no any reaction when I plug any USB device (memory flash, digicam). No messages in /var/log/messages, no information in /proc/bus/usb/devices about pluged devices:

But! I have the same installation at home, but at another PC and my digicam works perfectly, with automount etc..
PC has 8 usb ports, 1 SATA(SCSI)
lsmod:
...
usbcore 106204 4 usbserial,uhci_hcd
...
Upgrade to 2.6.5-7.108 kernel has no affect.

Have you tried a different OS, e.g. knoppix, or win, if you have a dual-boot system?
Have you rebooted?
I had once problems with a broken USB stick, it simply lead the kernel to 'switch off' a port.
best,
Ott

Are you using a usb hub? This isn't metioned much but usb hubs and usb sticks don't like to work together well under linux. My usb stick works perfectly under windows on the back of my computer where the 4 port hub is, but under linux nothing shows or happens like you. If I insert it into the front where there are 2 seperate usb mounts it works perfectly. Also another thing would be to try disabling Legacy USB support in your BIOS if you can.
