The most user-freindly Distro?
 

I know this has been asked before, and I know that you are about to kill me for doing it again. But things change with time.
This is Simple. Which Distro do you think is the most user freindly? Please vote in the poll with your opinion. I'm sticking to SuSE 7.3 (haven't tried 8 yet, downloading...).

That depends on what you consider user-friendly. If you are talking about a nice graphical display that does auto-login so your not forced to login each time, or is similar to M$ Windows, then Mandrake is good. If user-friendly means a distro that automatically configures your hardware the first-time you try, or doesn't limit the root login (as KDE) then Red-Hat is good. I only have experience with these two, but I already have a good idea of the differences in distros.

nice to see you're trying to bias the poll with your own opinion :). have you actually tried mandrake? most people will probably have only tried two distros at tops here... bit dubious as to how informed it would be....

oh and why have you set it as a multiple choice poll when you are clearly after a single option?

The term userfriendly mostly reffered to GUI and it does not depend on distros if you use some window managers like kde of gnome

well preumsably it's in terms of features like yast2, sax, diskdruid, diskdrake etc....

Your poll doesn't make sense. Your asking for most userfriendliest but your poll seems like its more of a which one do you like. The last option should be more like, They're all hard, not they all suck.

And Slackware, why would you say its the webmaster's favorite, I don't think its jeremy's favorite but that is besides the point, another reason your going after favorite distro poll instead of user friendly poll.

I have a pent. 166Mhz & I have tried Debian (couldn't get it to install), Peanut Linux (corrupt peanut.bz2 file downloaded from 2 different sites), RedHat 7.0 (This one installed but with no GUI, it didnt like my monitor), so I finally found Vector Linux 1.8 and I now have a second computer running Linux. I not saying that one sucks or one is king and master of all, but this was my first time and Vector Linux 1.8 worked for me so I've stuck with it I dont have all the fancy stuff (kde, gnome, xscreensaver, games, etc.etc) but I do have ICEwm and I have learned to compile some games and created desktop icons. All that I will say is this is what worked for me may not for you. It depends on your skills & your hardware.

Whoa whoa guys. Easy. LOL. I chose SuSE because its the distro I like so far. I have tried 3 distros already.

RedHat -> Absolutely sux. Don't know, just don't like it one bit
Mandrake -> Not bad. Not SuSE but not bad :)
SuSE -> I absoultely love it so far. Trying to download version 8

That's funny, I started with RadHat 6 and liked it just fine. Tried 'Drake about a year down the road, didn't like it a bit. Seemed like they went out of their way to make it more difficult for me to configure using config files. Maybe I was just used to RH and RH put them in goofy places, don't matter that was years ago.

Liking LibraNet 2 just fine at the moment, the goodness of apt and you don't have to write all the scripts yourself ;).

Interesting. I haven't tried many distros, just 3 of them. So Far I like SuSE the best. I have tried multiple versions of RedHat and Mandrake mind you, but I don't know. There's something abouit that chameleon that captivated me, LOL :)

So you made a poll asking what members thought was the most user friendly distro for Linux, but somehow you keep making it so its what distro everyone prefers or likes... I don't get it. Shouldn't we be discussing the pro's and cons of distro's and how either friendly or unfriendly they are ??
I'm just wondering cause we have too many threads already of "what distro you like best or think is the best ?"

I c. Well Feel free to discuss the pros/cons. All I was saying Is that so Far I like SuSE. no more no less. I'm still open to input from others about which distros they recommend and why.
