The GNU Hurd, will be the murder of Linux?

Hi Everyone..

What will be the future of Linux while the GNU Hurd is rising?

over ten years ago, when linus started working on linux, they were thinking that the hurd kernal was due out at anytime. now 10 + years later, with linux stable, why bother with hurd. at this point it's just an ego stroke for RMS.

`Hurd' stands for `Hird of Unix-Replacing Daemons'. And, then, `Hird' stands for `Hurd of Interfaces Representing Depth'. We have here, to my knowledge, the first software to be named by a pair of mutually recursive acronyms (link here).
So long as they're putting that much thought into names, I don't think they'll have the resources to surpass Linux. :D
