Unhappy The frustration of nameservers being down

Hi guys

I don't know what to do, after 2 weeks of strugling to setup my nameservers when i go to dnsreport, it says my nameservers are down. I have registered the nameservers at my domain registrar. Is there a sample zone file so that I see what actually someone puts in the WHM->DNS->Edit Zone File?

I intend to setup my nameservers as:

NS1.MYDOMAIN.COM
111.111.111.111
NS2.MYDOMAIN.COM
222.222.222.222

Thanks

Hi,

I have no idea of what you are looking for... (might be me... ;o)

Does your nameservers work from internally? (i.e. localhost)

Are you using GUI's to set up your nameservers, or are you editing your files directly? ( I assume you are using BIND 9x)

Please post some more information.

Regards

Jonas

Hi,

No, I have been assigned to IP addresses to use as the nameseerver Ip. I use a GUI to set up the nameservers - this GUi is Web Host Manager that comes with Cpanel.

I get this error with dnsreport.com

A timeout occurred getting the NS records from your nameservers! None of your nameservers responded fast enough. They are probably down or unreachable. I can't continue since your nameservers aren't responding.

Thanks

Job

Does your nameservers work at all?

Test it by doing the following...

# nslookup (with no argument)
then you'll get into the nslookup prompt...
nslookup> server 111.222.333.444 (replace with your IP)
nslookup> myhost.mydomain.com (test your server with a known host-name)

Does that work?
