Yes, I'm guessing that 3Com is incompatable in Linux, but I was hoping still. I have a Red Hat 7.0 computer that I am playing with for school.^^ And I've got all the scripts written for it. It'll connect, but won't authenticate. Please help! The modem is a 3Com Robotics 56.K Faxmodem.

Who are you connecting to ( ISP ) and what exact errors is it spitting back at ya?

I'm connecting to Alltel. And like I said, it goes through but gets stuck at authentication. Then this happens:

|| |||| ||||| | | [Hm, a prompt . . . ]
|| |||| ||||| | | [Hm, a prompt . . . ]
|| |||| ||||| | | [Hm, a prompt . . . ]
|| |||| ||||| | | [Hm, a prompt . . . ]
Don't know what to do! Starting pppd . . .

Timed out.

Then it'll restart.^^ Isn't that 'Hm, a prompt' cute?
