Question text only doesn't work...

i'm running redhat 9, and the default instalation seems to not like me using text-only. when i go to text only ( no x-windows, etc ), the keyboard fails. it doesn't even respond to input. the caps, num, and scroll lock lights don't change when i press their respective keys. is there something wrong with my computer, or is there an option i've missed?

Haven't come across that one before!

Are you booting into console mode or switching from X?

Is it one of those newfangled USB keyboards?

Question

neither seems to work, switching from X, or booting to console. one strange thing i've noticed is that when i log out ( using ctrl-alt-backspace ), it goes to the console login. at this point, my keyboard doesn't work. not even the num lock light or any other light. but after a few seconds, the graphical login display comes up, and the keyboard works fine.
