text mode resolution (changing rows and cols)

Is it possible to change the rows and columns in text mode?

I would like to be able to view more stuff in a single page.

Thanks.

I'm using a S3 Virge Card, I'm havig ahard time in understanding the instruction of using Framebuffer.

I found a solution using resizecons, but how do I know what are the display modes (cols and rows parameters) that are available to me?
