terminals & Ctrl+Alt+F1
what is the difference between opening a terminal and issuing commands and using
Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get to a command line. I realise that the terminal runs on X and the other "outside" (?) of x, but why is this so? Under what circumstances would I use one or the other? |
To the best of my knowledge there is no difference, as long as both
are using the same shell (usually bash, but there are others). The terminal is just a means to input/output to the shell, it's just some kind of an interface. |
There is a little difference between them. For example, for kernel module stuff you have to use the one outside X to see the results :).
But other then that there is not much difference between them . |
