telnet "welcome" message

As soon as I login to a system through telnet, I would like a message to appear welcoming the user and to show the calendar/date etc. And each user would like it to be custom defined for himself. How can this be done?

In addition I have a calendar program which shows my weekly tasks, and I would like this to appear as soon as login.

Do I have to make changes in .bashrc file? and what will these changes be?

.bash_login and I'd suggest using ssh instead of telnet. telnet is insecure and outdated to tell you the truth. When you login remotely, everything is passed thru as plain text.

Whether you are using telnet or ssh you can use this linux logo program, it doesn't do everything you want but it might give you a few ideas. Everythings here:

Usage for linux logo below - i really like the penguin port feature
