Post "Telnet is not a Registered Protocol" from a Mozilla Browser in Unix

When I launch Mozilla browser and click on a Telnet button I get the following error: "Telnet is not a registered protocol" But I can launch a Telnet session from the same machine outside Mozilla. Please help. Is there a procedure to register the Telnet protocol in Mozilla?

Hi.

Go to 'about:config', then right-click on the page and go to 'New -> String'. Make the name 'network.protocol-handler.app.telnet' and leave the value blank. Restart Mozilla/Firefox, and the next time you click a telnet link, it should ask you what you want to do.

Thanks for trying to help me. The browser I am using is Mozilla 1.7 for Sun Java (Solaris8). Under the help menu there is no "about:config". There is only "about Plugins" and "about Web browser".
