taskset - Bind several CPUs into a single process

Dear all,

I am currently using Ubuntu on a small server with 4 processors.
At this stage I only have one task running but instead of using all processors available it only uses 1.

I tried taskset -c 0-3 -p #PID# but it didn't work. In other words, only one CPU is bound to this process.

Are there any other packages available that allow the user to bind all CPUs to a running task?

Cheers,
J

Not all processes are meant to run across multiple processors. You might have to look deeper into your application to determine if it is capable of running multi-threaded.

hi Grim76!

Apparently you're right, since R software is not a multi-threaded application.
I'll try to see if I can find another solution..

Thank you,
JA
