System Stopped Booting suddenly

Dear All,

My CentOS 4.7 server is having 2*160 GB SATA Hard disks under software RAID level 1. It has been working fine since last two years. Suddenly one morning it did not boot and was just displaying : GRUB
on the screen. Nothing else was happening.
I just tried swapping hard disks. The system worked properly. After that I reverted to old settings --- again the system started showing : GRUB

What could be the problem and how to rectify the same ?

Thanks in advance

Check each of the problem hard drives with the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic utilities. The major brands have them freely available on their websites in the form of bootable isos. Run the diagnostics in thorough mode.

Had there been any issue with the hard disk, the mirroring should not be ok throughout. The mirroring is happening properly if we swap the hard disks. Only issue is booting which I feel that should be due to corruption in boot record.
