Is there any good replacement for syslog? I heard that metalog is good,
Also, there is any good tool to parse the log files? it's kinda very hard to read all syslogs as they are on a constant basis.

Depends on distro I guess. Gentoo and Linux from Scratch will let you pick your own. Don't think Mandrake will, not sure on the rest.

It doesn't matter which distro, Linux is a Linux, I'll install the good one on my disto

Any suggestions?
