Symphony Linux?

So what's up with this distribution anyway? Does it have more support for different audio codecs, like ogm/wma/mp4 etc? I'd like to know what's so revolutionary with it, seems like an interesting distribution. Thanks.

The desktop is somewhat different from any other distro.
And it has a new package management system that is neither rpm nor deb nor tgz based - if I understand it right.
I installed it briefly at home on the test box. The desktop is most interesting, but as a distro it's still in alpha so there isn't that much to do except develop it as yet.
I hope it works out.

Why they called it Symphony I don't know. But I really like the interface. Way better than any other operating system I have used. Wish it was a little more mature, then I could switch to it.

From what I've understood so far, it's more targeted at a musical environment. I could be wrong, but that's what I've read.

Well, I didn't see any music type software when I had a look.
And they're going to have to do well to beat Agnula De Mudi and dyne:bolic.

Will this distro have its own section in the Distributions forum?

EliasAlucard 06-07-2005 11:10 PM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphony_OS In case anyone cares, there's an article now on Wikipedia that could use some improving.

I wonder if this distro will get its own forum section here on LQ?

Charred 12-02-2005 01:09 PM

That's really up to the developers.

It is a neat-looking distro, isn't it?

Yes. It's very beautiful. But it looks interesting in more ways than one.
