Switching my school to linux

Hello,

I recently took a job as the system administrator for a local high school. The school has about 60 PC's running windows XP, that I would like to switch to linux. I would like to build a system that has an account for each student and teacher that has centralized storage and user logins. From the information I've found so far I know that I'll probably want to use LDAP and NFS for this. I also need to build a firewall/router.

I've been using linux at home for about 4 years now and I'm fairly familiar with the command line, the software installation process and other basic stuff. What I want to know is which book(s) you would recommend that have the information I need to acheave my goals.

Thanks in advance.

There is one based on Redhat that describe setting up a Internet server. Not sure of the exact name. Are some of these computers used in the class by students. If so the appliactions that run on them need to be verified if they will run under linux or wine if needed. If not then you may need to leave them as XP. Or setup Citrix server to handle this. Then you can use linux samba and microsoft networking to do all the networking file sharing. Setup the router on Linux and setup danguardian for filtering content. Just a quick few thoughts.

All the computers are used in classrooms by the students. Most teachers use them for web access, but there are also some other programs. At the moment there are two programs that are windows only, and one of them requires flash. But I think it should be possible to install them under wine, although I don't have any experience using wine.

Can you give title and ISBN number of any usefull book(s)?
