Switching back to the Mandrake 9.1 desktop from terminal rdesktop terminal session

HI

I'm a Newbie to Linux ( currently running Mandrake 9.1 ) and have found answers to most of my questions from this site but after some thorough searches I have a question to post

I am using Rdesktop ( with the tsclient GUI ) to connect to a W2k SERVER and would like to how I can switch back or minimise the terminal server session when viewing it in full screen ?

I know if you logoff the Terminal service's session it takes you back to the Mandrake 9.1 desktop but I would like to know if anyone knows how to minimize the Terminal services screen so I can switch between Terminal Service's and the Mandrake desktop ?

i have never used rdesktop, but you can still alt + tab in linux, that is if you have a specified app you want to use, or even ctrl + esc (well that works for me) alternativley you can alt + f* where * = 1 to 4 to use the other desktops

One way round

Hi Marc218

Like you Im a newbie to this forum, so please bear with me if I dont handle this post correctly.

Onw way around your problem is to use the "-g" option to specify the geometry of your screen ( these are stipulated in pixels ). So you find out your screen resolution, then when you run up rdesktop use the -g to launch it at maximum screen resolution. You then can inconise the entire window taking you back to Linux. For example, I used the following rdesktop -g

1900x1400 -u <username>

I have a sony VAIO laptop with resolution 1900 by 1400
.

Now you can iconise it using the "_" on the top right hand corner of the new window screen taking you back to Linux.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Malakai.

Mistake

Sorry minor error in my last post. The command line again should have a -g which I missed out. Here is the command again:

rdesktop -g 1900x1400 -u malakai <hostname>

Please understand that I mean no malice

No one has answered the question that is currently posted by the originator. I don't have the answer either as I am curretnly looking to find where I saw the correct hotkey, last fall.

There is a hotkey that will take a user from his "fullscreen" Microsoft session via RDESKTOP back to his desktop.

I just don't happen to recall what it was and I'm looking (I know it works because I used it).

You can press Ctrl-Alt + Return to switch between fullscreen and window mode.
