Swapping desktop to Polish language for some users
I have recently become responsible for installing Linux on a Pentium
166 (i586) This is for use mainly by Polish people, but I am English and do not read system errors in Polish fluently. I installed Mandrake 7.2 with English as the installation language and Polish as the second language. Now I would like to know how to change the desktop for all user accounts except mine to Polish. As a secondary question, what is the best way to get a good Polish font (i.e. readable under 800x600 24bit colour) that Netscape uses (or should I change to Mozilla)? If necessary I will install again with Polish as the installation language, but I have to do a network install and recompile LiLo to do this - and sift out many packages for the slow computer. Thanks, Paragon, Szczecin |
Oh yes, and I am in Sawfish Gnome (not KDE) - although if anyone can
answer the question for KDE instead and tell me how to switch I will give it a try. There is probably some other information that I have forgotten to provide too. Paragon |
Is there anyone out there who has a similar situation, but with a
language other than Polish? I have found some webpages designed to allow Japanese for a user, but they want all of the menus and desktop in English so it is not the same situation. Alternatively, if there is a Polish forum that I could post the question to, would someone in the know let me know too. Paragon |
Im having the same issue with Japanese can you recommend this website to me

Unfortunately I had to clear out some of my hard disk recently,
and my linux web downloads were cleared. There is some info on japanese here http://linuxquestions.org/questions/history/126536 and http://www.math.wisc.edu/~stefanss/japanese/ I cannot remember the search I used while I was looking for Polish desktop. Sorry, Paragon |
