Talking swap partition size

Hi... I am going tonight to install suse 9.1
I am curious about the partition's size....
The problem is that i have 1024 mb ram.... usually the partition must be 1,5-2 bigger than RAM memory... In my suse 9.0 i have noticed that never the swap was used at all.....So what i must do??

The old rule was 1-2 times the size of the RAM. The new rule is, you should have at least 128 MB, just in case. You'll definitely want more if you are running a heavy-use server or using huge multimedia files. I barely touch my swap with 256 MB of RAM on my laptop.

i only have 191mb of ram and i have a 512mb swap partition that rarely gets touched...you have more than enough ram to be able to have a 128 or 256mb swap partition...linux utilizes ram more than it will your swap, unless you have a very low amount.

With 1GB of RAM your swap will probabaly never be used. On a 40GB hard drive 128MB is less then .5% of the total space. So having it just in case shouldn't be a big deal.
