suspend that won't go away

I have just installed SuSE Linux 7.2 on my server. It keeps going to sleep against all my better efforts. I have disabled power management in the BIOS. I am downloading a large file and the system suspends in the middle of it, display goes blank and the download dies after about 10 minutes. Any ideas?

Thanks. It's a desktop, that's the weird part. I tried apmd stop but it fails; I don't have apmd running. xset -dpms didn't stop the problem either. I am using Wmaker and I am starting to suspect that this is a screensaver action of some sort, but I can't explain while it causes my file download to fail. If I move the mouse every five minutes or so none of this happens, but that's a pain in the butt when doing a 45 minute download.
