From /usr/src/kernel-modules/subfs directory do this:
make -f Makefile.module
make -f Makefile.module install

To verify it worked:
ls /lib/modules/2.6.7/kernel/fs/subfs/
subfs.ko
depmod -ae

Thanks /bin/bash...it worked for me.

I upgraded from the SuSE 9.3(2.6.11.4-20a) stock kernel to 2.6.12.3 and you solved my cd/dvd mounting problems.

Incidentally, the 2.6.12.3 kernel fixes the dual core with Tyan 2895 issues with SuSE 9.3.

Thanks again /bin/bash

SUBFS location in kernel config menu

It's under filesystems (like where you see reiserfs, ext3, etc). Now my question is is there some easy to understand documentation for all the options needed in the fstab for it?...
