suse install from dvd hangs on UEFI but not BIOS

I have a new server i am playing with. I have SLES 11.4 x86-64 and it has installed fine on other hardware no problem.
this new server has a supermicro motherboard. if i go in and set it to legacy bios then the dvd boots and i get the green suse installation screen and have no problems.
but if i have the server set to UEFI, then i can get to the EFI shell and go to fs0: which is the dvd, and do /efi/suse/bootx64.efi or do /efi/suse/grub.efi. Just a text screen will then come up but it's grub and i have the choice of doing installation or rescue. i choose installation and then it spits out two lines and nothing ever happens after that. the two lines of text are simple like, "loading linux kernel" and "loading initrd". sorry, i forget right now what the actual text was but on other efi systems i get the same thing but within 5 minutes it would start saying loading drivers and i then get to the regular graphical installation screen.
anyone know what extra syntax i might need to kick off the install in UEFI?

Does the Bios have a option like CSM?

Your info about the hardware is not sufficient.

having the CSM option I don't know. I'm reading through the motherboard manual now which is a downloadable pdf from the link,
does not mention it. they have the boot options of legacy, uefi, and dual. legacy works for me, uefi does not, haven't tried dual.

Quick search found this. Says SP3, but might be relevant.

https://www.suse.com/documentation/s...ootscreen_uefi

in the above link which is book_sle_deployment.pdf
in section 6.7. The Boot Screen on Machines Equipped with UEFI
it has the picture of what I see for Installation, Rescue System, Check Installation Media.
I said grub before, my mistake. It's ELILO, which i've used many times before successfully on other systems. I just highlight Installation hit enter and it turns into what section 6.8 welcome shows and it's cake from there.

i don't think it works. gave it 15 minutes still hanging on booting the uefi-fcoe-sle11sp3-kiso.iso.
before my dvd reader the green light would illuminate for 2 seconds then stop when it does
"loading kernel"
"loading initial ramdisk"

this time when booting the uefi-fcoe-sle11sp3-kiso.iso i burned to cd, the reader green light would stay on for close to a minute, but i'm still hung after loading initial ramdisk.

and i just realized that i have a mellanox infiniband card installed, because i get a "hit ctrl-B" when booting to enter it's setup screen.
I'm starting to wonder if i need to remove that infiniband card, do my sles efi install, then plug it back in after the install is complete.

figured it out however it's on the server without a mellanox infiniband card installed.
Problem seems to be settings in the bios/efi settings.
for boot type i had the settings of: bios, uefi, dual. I have it set to uefi.
problem lied in pcie/pci/pnp settings for the PCI slots and what the option rom drivers are, the choices were EFI or LEGACY.
After I set them all to legacy including for VGA, i'm currently using the onboard vga with that option ROM set to legacy not EFI, i am able to boot the sles dvd no problem, and this is the normal sles 11.4 dvd not the special one in the link posted by sysg00.
so things seem to be running good so far with sles 11.4.
