SUSE DNS & Active Directory
Hi
I have installed SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 and configured (internal) DNS on it. It works fine. I get reply for dig and host commands.
I have to integrate it with the new Windows 2003 server to install Active Directory on Windows.
The Windows and Linux are pinging each other. "nslookup" command from Windows Server is resolving the SUSE DNS server, but "nslookup <windows server name>" is not getting resolved. It gives me a timeout error.
The problem arises when i try to promote the W2k3 Server to the Domain Controller, it gives the following error.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The primary DNS server tested was: servername.domainname.com <my dns server's fqdn name>
The zone was: domainname.com <my domain name>
The test for dynamic DNS update support returned:
"DNS server failure."
(error code 0x0000232A RCODE_SERVER_FAILURE)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think, i have to add SRV records. Can anyone suggest me, where exacly i should add this.
I am very new to Linux. I am doing the above in the test environment, soon i have to do it in the production.
Any suggestions
Thanks a lot in advance
