Suse 9 Kernal Version location

First guys and girls I want to aplogize for this really stupid question, but I'm running Suse 9 on an IBM a20m Laptop and I'm trying to get the internet connection to work. It seems no matter what I do none of the NICs that I have will work. This leads me to my question, in one of the install directions for my WiFi card with linux it says that I have to have a certain kernal verison number. My problem is that I can't find where the kernal version is displayed, or what command I need to do in order to retrive the info. I know this is a real newbie question, but I hope someone with help.

You can take a look in /var/log/messages it will tell you what kernel version is booted.

uname -r

I had the same problem. Make sure you installed it from the CD ROM. Start up Yast and have it sort by package type with the drop down selection box. It should be under Development.

The documentation I have for SuSe 9.0 Pro says that they changed the kernel source location from /usr/src/linux to /lib/modules/'uname -r'/build

Mine was something like /lib/modules/linux-2.4-166-default/
