SuSe 9.3 Kaffeine Problems
I'm having trouble loading video files (particularly .avi files) in Kaffeine Media Player. I'm running SuSe 9.3 and I have installed all of the Multimedia Option Packages. Any suggestions anyone?

You might miss the w32codec package

This is what I did and kaffeine and all multimedia works great.

Good Luck!

I tried your advice, mkoljack. Unfortunately for me, I already had the installation selection installed. I still can't play videos, however, I installed the codecs into /usr/lib/win32/. I know that video playing is a problem with SuSe. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Sign in to the forum which I provided a link to and send a personal msg to adler who did that multimedia post. He may have another suggestion. You installed the codecs to the correct directory. Have you opened the directory to be sure you have codecs in it? Double ck. to be sure. Are you sure the files you are trying to play are .avi files but may require a codec that is not installed. Usually the location you get the file from will list the codec required to play it? Other than that, I'm out of ideas.

If I were you I would replace the xine packages in suse, with the ones from xines nightly builds page. Uninstall all xine related packages including kaffeine, install xine-libs, win32 codecs and libdvdcss from the xine nightly builds site. Once thats done, install kaffeine. All should work okay after that.
