SuSE 9.0 Login Problem
Hi. I run SuSE 9.0 on my PC and after about 20 logins when I try to start a KDE session I enter my user and pass, and after I hit Enter it does nothing for about 2-3 seconds ( shows a black screen or the background picture ) it asks me again for user and password, and so on in a cycle. If anyone understands my problem or even had it and solved it I would be more than greatfull if you're be willing to help me too. Thank you very much. Cheers.

Try creating a new user and see if the new user can login to KDE.

I have the same problem. I can login as root (also KDE), but not as user. I understand creating a new user is a by-pass for the problem, but I would like to avoid making all settings all over again. I can use the terminal to login, but I just don't understand why I can't login as user, while KDE seems to work for root. I even don't know if it is related to KDE at all, since I am also not able to login under windowmaker. If there is anybody out there that can give a hint in which direction I should be looking for a solution, this would be greatly appriciated.

Are you starting a new session every time you login?

Solved the problem
I have solved the problem by using the failsave login, where KDE reported it couldn't start because the /tmp directory was full. After deleting a some temporary files, I was able to login again, and everything seems fine now.
