SuSE 8.2 - Same ftp installation procedure?

SuSE has been beckoning me for quite some time. Like many people, the whole ftp installation sort of turns me off. I'd like to have a couple ISO's or something so I can reinstall when i need to (I have a tendancy to completely botch up my os's). Will 8.2 have the same ftp installation? Also, how large is it to download the entire directory structure and install via hard disk? Otherwise, how long does the ftp install take on a cable connection?

surely would be easier to burn a cd :)

an iso of 650 mb took me 3 hours on a 512k cable connection so your looking at probably 4 hours to do the install as well.

get an iso iamge and burn it to cd :)

I just did an ftp of 8.1 It took less than 3 1/2 hours. I have ADSL 512k. I must say, I used to have 7.3 personal, and 8.1 is really lovely. Give it a go. You may really like it.

You can get the Pro 5 CD set (minus proprietary software) from E-bay. Do a search. It is perfectly legal and conforms to SuSE's licence and copying text file in the distribution.
