Question Super Audio CD not readable - hardware or software?

Just bought Let It Bleed and Beggars Banquet by the Rolling Stones - assuming that this was not already a problem I am getting this error when trying to rip them:

Unable to read table of contents header

Both CDs use this new Super Audio CD format - although they state "this disc has two layers. One is a normal CD. The other layer is a Super Audio CD (SACD) [...] Both layers benefit from Direct Stream Digital (DSD) encoding [...] you can hear it on any CD player you own today..."

So something is not right. Is it my hardware? Apparently not according to this description. The hardware is a 2 year old CDR/DVDR player.

I can play the CDs on my Windows box, but it's a pain to rip them there because I would have to mess around with my rip & convert script to get them named & normalised properly.

Anybody got any experience of this?

I have ripped Dual-Layer SACD's with Linux (Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks was one) and cdparanoia with no trouble at all.
